Nordstrom has become the latest retail giant to shut down its stores in San Francisco due to rampant crime and theft.

The retailer told employees it would be closing down both its Westfield Mall location and the Nordstrom Rack across the street by the end of August.

Nordstrom chief stores officer Jamie Nordstrom blamed conditions in San Francisco for reducing foot traffic “and our ability to operate successfully.”

Westfield Mall told the Washington Post that the decision was made in light of the “deteriorating situation in downtown San Francisco,” which has left staff and customers feeling unsafe and that “these significant issues are preventing an economic recovery of the area.”

However, the retailer has announced that it will be opening new stores in Oceanside and San Mateo, which are relatively safer areas.

The news follows the announcement that Whole Foods was closing down an enormous flagship store in San Francisco, while H&M, Marshall’s, Gap, and Banana Republic have also abandoned the city.

Target, the retailer which de facto endorsed the Black Lives Matter riots, has also been forced to put many of its products behind security glass to deter theft.

Target also recently announced that it would be closing down its stores in Philadelphia in response to rising crime rates, as well as one in its hometown of Minneapolis and two in the Washington, D.C., area.

Last month, a CNN reporter was the victim of a ‘smash-and-grab‘ robbery while reporting on San Francisco’s “rampant street crime.”

Last summer, major business owners threatened to stop paying property taxes unless authorities rampant crime, vandalism and homelessness.

“Nordstrom, Whole Foods, Walgreens, Gap, Banana Republic and H&M — all of whom endorsed the Black Lives Matter movement amid widespread rioting and looting during the Summer of Floyd — have closed or are closing their stores in San Francisco due to rampant crime and theft brought on by the liberal policies they supported in the name of “fighting racism” and “white supremacy,” comments Chris Menahan.
