A majority of likely voters say former President Donald Trump should continue to face opponents in the 2024 Republican presidential primary race, Rasmussen Reports found.

In a poll conducted before Trump won Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, 51% of respondents said candidates such as former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley should keep campaigning against the former president for the GOP nomination, Rasmussen Reports survey results found.

A total of 38% said Trump already is guaranteed to win the nomination and his opponents should quit now.

However, when broken into party alignment, 64% of Republicans say Trump’s opponents should step aside, and 73% of Democrats say the former president’s opponents should remain the race.

Among unaffiliated voters, 50% say Republican opponents should keep campaigning, while 34% believe Trump is guaranteed to win the nomination and his opponents should end their campaigns.

Among conservatives, 56% say Trump’s opponents should quit now. Meanwhile, 80% of self-identified liberal voters say Trump’s primary opponents should keep campaigning.

With his victory in The Granite State on Tuesday, Trump became the first Republican to sweep competitive votes in both Iowa and New Hampshire since 1976, when the two states cemented their status as the first nominating contests.

Haley, though, vowed to continue her campaign.

“This race is far from over — there are dozens of states left to go,” she said.

The Rasmussen Reports survey was conducted Jan. 18 and Jan. 21-22 among 995 likely voters. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis bowed out of the GOP primary race on Sunday.

Among likely voters who said they voted for Trump in 2020, 66% say the former president is guaranteed to win the 2024 nomination and his primary opponents should stop running.

Among 2020 Biden voters, 77% think Trump’s GOP primary opponents should keep campaigning against him.

Men are divided narrowly over whether or not Trump’s opponents should keep running. Women, however, say his opponents should keep running by more than 20-point margin.

Overall, 52% of whites, 55% of black voters and 48% of other minorities say Trump’s GOP primary opponents should continue to campaign against him.

Meanwhile, 39% of whites, 30% of black voters and 43% of other minorities say Trump’s Republican primary opponents should quit now.
