Nothing signifies the ‘bad news is good news’ narrative that has provided dovish cover for risk-assets over the last few months than the huge divergence of cyclical US equities’ outperformance over defensives relative to PMIs slump. Of course this has been supported by the AI bubble in recent months but even before that the decoupling was growing.
